I have the DIFF model of DMC-4080 and would like to use it with a KB Electronics motor controller that uses a +/-10V signal, Enable signal, and common. To do this I need a single-ended analog output, not differential. Can I connect the MCMD_N output to digital ground and use MCMD as a single-ended output? If this is not permitted by the differential output design, what other options do I have?

Hi gfichter,
Do not connect MCMD_N to digital ground. Leave this open.
Galil differential output works by MCMD_N outputting a second +/-10V signal opposite to MCMD_P. For example, if TT is 7, MCMD_P outputs 7V and MCMD_N output -7, both in reference to ground.
I would also like to gain a better idea of the specifics of your application. Typically, the DIFF option should not be ordered if you know you are interfacing with a single-ended input to an amplifier.
Can you either send me an email to andrews at galil dot com or call in at (916) 626-0101 and ask to speak with me. Then we can go into more specifics of your application.

Regards,
Andrew
